Arts & Crafts circa 1890 English oak metamorphic library steps chair
The chair has one large locking rod, remove said catch and you simply tilt the top forward converting the chair to a set of Library steps. The timber has been cleaned waxed and polished, there will be normal patina marks from honest use and genuine age.
